COMPANY OVERVIEW
Peplum is a fast-fashion retailer offering trendy, affordable street-wear for all ages. In order to buy merchandise, customers currently need to go to one of Peplum’s brick and mortar stores, there is no online store. The goal is to bring this shopping experience online.
MY ROLE
UX Research, UX Design, and UI/Visual Design. I performed market and user research, and also validated ideation with a participatory design activity. I facilitated the usability tests and also completed wireframes, prototypes, and revisions.
This project was conducted for educational purposes during my academic tenure with DesignLab.
THE CHALLENGE
Peplum has put a lot of thought into the customer journey at their stores to ensure that the shopping experience is comfortable and enjoyable. They want to ensure that their in-store experience is captured in their online platform. Customers need to feel that the site is secure, have a good understanding of the store's return policy, and quickly understand sizing before purchasing.
How might we make the virtual shopping experience reflect the brick and mortar experience?
THE SOLUTION
A responsive website that reflects Peplum's branding and warm, welcoming aesthetic with features that permit shoppers to quickly search for items, a secure and simple checkout process, and clear overview of sizing.
STYLE TILE
To define the overall feel of the site, I put together a stile tile. This allowed me to develop a color palette, typeface, and illustrations for the site that stayed true to the brand values.
RESPONSIVE WIREFRAMES
I started with the phone layout and worked my way up in size. Small adjustments to the layout happened after getting user feedback.
DESIGN INTERACTIONS
Something important that was uncovered during research was that all users interviewed either opened multiple tabs OR loaded their shopping cart and abandoned it because they were unsure if they wanted to purchase items right away. Because of this, a favorites feature was added to the platform.
